Who I Am
Hi, I’m Devan Kennedy (they/them).
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker in Texas, trained in EMDR and trauma-informed approaches. I practice under the supervision of Nikki Rosser, LCSW-S as I complete my clinical hours for full licensure.
My role as a trauma therapist is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. Always at your own pace. I work hard to ensure clients feel truly seen and cared for in session. You can expect me to be gentle, steady, validating, and curious.

About Me
My Approach to Therapy
I specialize in bottom-up approaches to processing trauma—which is a fancy way of saying focusing on working with the body and nervous system as much as much as with thoughts and stories. Before we ever touch painful memories, we build resources: grounding tools, body-based practices, and nervous system steadiness so you feel anchored and supported.
I firmly believe that while I may have the clinical expertise, you are the one that knows yourself best. I may make suggestions, but you are the one who decides if you do or don’t use a particular resource or skill. Without any judgement from me. Many people with trauma histories had their agency taken from them. That’s why it is a priority for me to ensure you have agency in the therapy space.
There is no single definition of trauma. While I do work with those who have experienced religious trauma, sexual trauma, or physical trauma, trauma is based on your internal experience of what happened externally. With me there is no trauma hierarch and some line an lifetime of invalidation can be traumatic for some.
While I work with anyone navigating trauma, my practice especially supports queer and neurodivergent adults—including those living with ADHD, autism, BPD, dissociation, or complex PTSD. I know how often these experiences are misunderstood in traditional therapy spaces.
I can and will utilize traditional talk therapy if requested, but my focus is equipping clients with concrete skills and resources to navigate distressing thoughts, feelings, and memories that can arise between sessions.
Beyond Therapy—Gentle Tools
In addition to therapy, I share free resources through Resourced & Ready. At this time, I offer grounding scripts, calming audio, and a Before EMDR mini course. These tools are here to support you between sessions or help you find some steady ground if therapy feels like too big of a step right now.
My Belief About Healing
I do not believe you are broken, but if you feel you that way, it is completely understandable. My approach to healing is not about changing who you are, but about finding steadiness, compassion, and support for every part of you.
Whether you are queer, neurodivergent, or simply someone dealing with the weight of trauma, you deserve a space that feels safe, steady, and affirming.
If you’re ready, I’d be honored to walk beside you on that journey.
